New Delhi, Oct 21 (KNN) India’s automobile exports grew by 14% in the first half of this fiscal year, reaching 2,528,248 units, up from 2,211,457 last year, according to SIAM.

SIAM President Shailesh Chandra noted that recovery in key markets in Latin America and Africa, which previously struggled with currency issues, contributed to this growth.

Passenger vehicle exports rose by 12% to 376,679 units, led by Maruti Suzuki with 147,063 units (up 12%). Hyundai’s exports fell slightly by 1% to 84,900 units.

Two-wheeler exports increased by 16% to 1,959,145 units, with scooters up 19% to 314,533 and motorcycles up 16% to 1,641,804 units.

Commercial vehicle exports grew by 12% to 35,731 units, while three-wheeler shipments dipped 1% to 153,199 units.

This growth reverses a 5.5% decline from the previous year, indicating a recovering global market for Indian automobiles.
