Musk-funded Pro-Trump group faces outreach and doorknock issues

REUTERS – Elon Musk’s political committee, America PAC, is facing challenges in swing states like Wisconsin and Nevada as it tries to meet doorknocking goals to support Donald Trump’s re-election. Reports suggest some canvassers may have falsified voter contact numbers.

With Election Day approaching on Nov. 5, managers informed the canvassing team they are falling short of the target to reach 450,000 voters. A canvasser named Alysia McMillan raised concerns about these shortfalls, stating they risk Trump’s chances of winning.

In Arizona, similar warnings were issued, and Musk aide Chris Young is investigating voter contact discrepancies in Nevada. Some members of America PAC dispute claims of shortfall, insisting they will meet their goals.

America PAC is focused on mobilizing low-propensity Trump voters in crucial battleground states. Musk has reportedly contributed at least $75 million to support these efforts, which include hiring contractors for grassroots outreach.

However, issues persist with retaining canvassers, who often find the pay inadequate and face reimbursement problems for expenses like gas. In Nevada, there’s been concern over canvassers misrepresenting their activity using smartphone apps.

America PAC has recently raised pay for canvassers to attract more workers, now starting at $30 per hour with bonuses.
