(MENAFN) Former U.S. President Donald Trump launched his cryptocurrency platform on Tuesday, but it struggled to attract investors. Only a small fraction of the 20 billion digital currency units for sale at 1.5 cents each were sold, raising concerns as just 3% found buyers by evening.

Trump, who is running for president again, introduced the World Liberty financial platform with his sons and business partners in September, aiming to raise $300 million. The digital currency allows for cryptocurrency trading and provides voting rights on platform decisions. However, technical issues on the website may have hurt sales.

The platform aims to let users lend and borrow cryptocurrencies, similar to Aave. Trump previously criticized cryptocurrencies as a “fraud,” but now calls himself a “Bitcoin president” if elected in November.
