Donald Trump recently shared a video urging his followers to invest in a cryptocurrency supported by his family. The token, called World Liberty Financial ($WLFI), was launched for purchase at $0.015 each on October 15.

In the video posted on X, Trump stated, “Big news. The World Liberty Financial token sale is now live. Crypto is the future.” The video garnered over 8 million views.

Trump, currently a Republican presidential nominee, has shifted his stance on cryptocurrencies, having previously criticized Bitcoin as a “scam.” The World Liberty Financial company also promoted a limited-time offer for buyers.

As of October 17, the company reportedly sold over 750 million tokens, with a crash on their website following the launch. Trump is called the company’s “chief crypto advocate,” while his sons serve as “Web3 ambassadors.”

The cryptocurrency market entails accreditation requirements for investors, who need a high income and net worth to participate. Buyers must set up a Web3 wallet to manage their digital assets.
