Man survives 67 days lost at sea in tiny inflatable boa

'I have no strength left,' Mikhail Pichugin told the fishing crew that rescued him off Russia's far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula.

A Russian man survived over two months on a small inflatable boat before being rescued on Monday near Kamchatka Peninsula.

A video showed the emaciated man, Mikhail Pichugin, 46, in a life jacket, pleading for help as he was saved by the fishing vessel Angel. He lost half his body weight, weighing just 110 pounds after 67 days adrift in the cold, stormy Sea of Okhotsk.

Pichugin, along with his brother and nephew, started a whale watching trip on August 9 but ran out of food and water when their engine failed. His brother and nephew’s bodies were found tied to the boat.

Search efforts initially failed, as the fishing crew mistook the small boat for debris until they spotted Pichugin. He was found 11 nautical miles from shore, having endured severe dehydration and hypothermia.

After being taken to the hospital, he is now stable but faces an investigation for violating water safety rules.
