Voters Split on Trump and Harris’ Economic Managemen

Registered voters are divided on who between Trump and Harris could handle the economy better.

Many U.S. voters believe the economy is struggling and feel neither Vice President Kamala Harris nor former President Donald Trump can improve it.

The AP NORC poll shows voters are divided on who is better to handle economic issues like housing, unemployment, and grocery prices.

Overall, 62% of registered voters think the economy is not doing well, while 38% disagree.

Opinions on the economy among all adults mirror those of registered voters, though there are signs of improvement. In both October 2022 and 2023, about 75% of adults viewed the economy negatively.

Democrats are more optimistic, with 60% believing the economy has improved—up from less than half last year. In contrast, many Republicans view the economy negatively.

Voters are unsure about trusting either Trump or Harris for issues like unemployment and prices.

Data from NORC indicates Trump has an 8-point advantage over Harris on immigration, while Harris leads by over 20 points on election integrity, abortion policy, and climate change.

On tariffs, voters prefer Trump, as reported by Fortune.

Democratic voters tend to favor Harris, while Republicans lean towards Trump for handling key issues.

Voter perceptions of Harris and Tim Walz have improved compared to Trump and JD Vance. Independent voters are divided on Harris but mostly view Trump negatively, although they hold similar views on the vice presidential candidates.
