Donald Trump encouraged his followers to buy a cryptocurrency backed by his family, World Liberty Financial, after the token’s sale started on October 15. Each $WLFI token, based on Ethereum, costs $0.015.

In a video shared on his X account, Trump stated: “Big news. The World Liberty Financial token sale is now live. Crypto is the future. Let’s embrace this incredible technology.” His video has gained over 8 million views.

Recently, Trump has shown support for cryptocurrencies, despite having previously described Bitcoin as a “scam.”

The World Liberty Financial also promoted the token sale on their X account, offering a “limited-time 1.5x bonus” for buyers that was valid for three hours.

As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 500 million tokens were sold, with the company aiming to raise $300 million by selling a total of 20 billion tokens.

Reports indicate the World Liberty Financial website crashed shortly after the sale began. Trump is the “chief crypto advocate,” while his sons are labeled “Web3 ambassadors.”

To purchase $WLFI tokens, buyers require a Web3 wallet, essential for managing blockchain assets.
