(MENAFN– IANS) New Delhi/Agartala, Oct 21 (IANS) The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved projects worth over Rs 2800 crore for Tripura, boosting the state’s economy and transport system.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha attended a meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, where they discussed various projects for the state.
Gadkari stated on social media that they reviewed ongoing National Highway projects covering 324 km in Tripura and emphasized improving highway infrastructure to enhance connectivity and support economic growth in the region.
The approved projects include:
- Rs 800 crore for an 11 km Agartala eastern bypass (four-lane road).
- Rs 1,500 crore for widening the Amtali to Tripura Sundari Temple road (50 km into a four-lane road).
- Rs 400 crore to convert Ranibazar to Inter-State Bus terminus (10 km, four-lane road).
- Rs 100 crore from the Central Road Fund for additional road projects.
Discussions also included a new National Highway to enhance trade and tourism, a logistics park near Agartala, and funding for restoring flood-damaged highways. The Detailed Project Report for a Ropeway from Maharani to Chabimura is expected to be approved soon.
