MENAFN – IANS, New Delhi/Agartala, Oct 21: Tripura is set to receive over Rs 2800 crore for various infrastructure projects aimed at improving its economy and road connectivity, as announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
This decision followed a review meeting with Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.
Gadkari stated that the focus was on accelerating highway development in Tripura to enhance connectivity and stimulate local economies, integrating the region into national growth.
The funding includes:
- Rs 800 crore for an 11 km Agartala eastern bypass (four-lane)
- Rs 1,500 crore to widen the 50 km road from Amtali to Tripura Sundari Temple (four-lane)
- Rs 400 crore for converting the Ranibazar to Inter-State Bus terminus road into a four-lane of 10 km
- Rs 100 crore for additional projects under the Central Road Fund
Chief Minister Saha also discussed plans for new highways to boost trade and tourism and a logistics park near Agartala. The Detailed Project Report for a ropeway from Maharani to Chabimura is expected soon.
