Singapore issues guidelines for employers on extreme weather

A Manpower Ministry spokesperson told CNA that they will finalise and release the guidelines after consultations with the industry and public.

SINGAPORE: A construction company is using misting machines, storage ponds, and weather monitoring tools to keep workers safe.

The misting system cools the site, helping workers endure the heat, while the ponds collect rainwater to prevent flooding and treat it before draining into public systems.

These measures are supported by weather devices that warn of strong winds and storms, which can be hazardous for those working at heights.

Mr. Qian Liangzhong, chairman of China Construction (South Pacific) Development Co Pte Ltd, emphasized that safety is not just a company priority but a core value shared with partners.
