Speaker Rivas (D-Salinas) and Assemblymember Ward (D-San Diego) talked with Tahra Goraya about challenges in California’s coastal regions.

“Rivas and Ward have been key in creating solutions for the state’s housing issues,” said Goraya, highlighting their success with 32 affordable housing bills this legislative cycle.

Their discussion also focused on housing, digital equity, infrastructure, and jobs as vital factors for improving the economy in the Monterey Bay area and California.

“Our goal at MBEP is to increase housing availability for everyone. Rivas and Ward’s support has been crucial in this effort,” Goraya added.

The Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) collaborates with government, businesses, and communities to meet the region’s needs.

Both leaders understand the balance needed between tourism and environmental preservation in coastal areas.

Speaker Rivas, a long-time advocate for the region, has deep roots in farmworker housing and prioritizes housing issues. Ward focuses on streamlining affordable housing development and increasing access to community college funding.
