Judge Orders Employer to Pay Woman Fired for Pregnanc

A judge has ruled in favor of a UK woman who alleges that she was terminated from her job due to her pregnancy.

A judge has sided with a UK woman, Nikita Twitchen, who claimed she was fired for being pregnant.

At 27, Twitchen had just given birth and was preparing to return to work when she found out she was pregnant again.

Her manager, Jeremy Morgan, fired her before she could come back from maternity leave.

Twitchen, who became pregnant in June 2022, planned to return to work on April 3, 2023. She met with Morgan on February 17 to discuss her return.

During the meeting, she told Morgan about her new pregnancy. While he says he congratulated her, Twitchen claims he was shocked.

After that meeting, her maternity leave ended, but no one from the company contacted her about returning. When she reached out, Morgan responded vaguely, suggesting she wait until she had a routine.

Twitchen had a good relationship with Morgan before this incident, as he was usually very responsive.

On April 18, Morgan informed her that her position was eliminated due to new software, leading Twitchen to seek justice in an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal.

She shared that after losing her job, she had to take cleaning jobs to support herself while pregnant.

The judge praised Twitchen for her resilience and awarded her over £28,000 for her wrongful dismissal.
