MENAFN – IANS, New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) – Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar introduced the term “forex drain,” highlighting that $6 billion has been drained from India’s foreign exchange reserves due to 1.3 million students studying abroad in 2024.

He warned against the trend, similar to “brain drain,” urging students to consider the implications of studying overseas.

Dhankhar expressed that investing this money in local education could significantly improve the country’s educational system during a celebration at Sobhasaria Group of Institutions in Rajasthan.

He encouraged educational institutions to inform students about the realities of studying abroad and the rankings of foreign colleges.

He also called on leaders in education and industry to hold seminars to guide students on opportunities within India.

Dhankhar urged well-off Indians to invest in building educational institutions in smaller cities and rural areas to foster growth.

He emphasized the need for teachers to leverage technology to enhance education despite physical limitations, stating that technology can help deliver quality education more broadly.

He reiterated that education is crucial for societal equality and transformation, especially in our rapidly changing technological landscape.

Highlighting the goal for India to become a developed nation by 2047, he encouraged youth to stand against anti-national forces that prioritize personal gain over national well-being.
