(MENAFN – IANS) New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar introduced the term “forex drain,” noting that $6 billion has left India’s foreign exchange reserves due to 1.3 million students studying abroad in 2024.

He advised students against following trends without thought, likening this issue to “brain drain” and emphasized that this money could have improved local educational institutions.

Speaking at the Sobhasaria Group of Institutions’ 25th anniversary in Sikar, Rajasthan, he urged schools to inform students about the challenges of studying abroad and the actual rankings of foreign colleges.

Dhankhar called on educational leaders to organize seminars that highlight opportunities within India for youth to contribute to the nation.

He encouraged wealthy Indians to invest in education, particularly in smaller cities and rural areas, which he believes would greatly benefit the country.

The Vice President also emphasized the importance of utilizing technology in education to improve quality and accessibility, acknowledging that talented teachers face physical limitations.

Education is seen as a key factor in promoting equality and addressing societal issues, especially in a time of rapid technological change.

He highlighted India’s goal to become a developed nation by 2047 and stressed the importance of youth supporting the nation against anti-national sentiments that prioritize personal gain over national interest.
